It's been another long break I know, and I have to admit, I do feel really guilty about neglecting my blog. On the upside though, I have been pretty occupied and we all know the saying, a busy gal is a happy gal! :)
I'd like to say that I tried a lot of new things in February but actually, I returned to all the stuff that I loved doing and which I had dropped for a while. Like cooking for instance. Living on one's own has its advantages and disadvantages. I used to enjoy concocting different recipes (I was aiming to become a chef at one point in my life) and flourishing said food to friends and loved ones to savour. Dare I be modest? No, you can banish that thought. I always put the best on the table and expect nary a complaint! Hehe. But since I've been by myself, the desire to cook and eat waned, and I just made do with bread and noodles. And eggplants.
But having a friend who literally lives 2 minutes away from me has changed all that. We've had curry night, meatpie night, pasta lunches and I'm not even going to go into the desserts! Hehe. We also began watching Korean movies and anime and if you don't know (and you should), the Koreans make some great movies! We've gone through a couple of horrors and thrillers, and I presented Deathnote to said friend. You can say goodbye to anyone for the next few weeks once you get them hooked on that anime. Oh and another thing, the Czech Republic makes some excellent white wine. Red totally sucks but I've found a firm favourite in the white, Rulandske Sede. It goes really well with anything you are watching. Mmmmm. :)
I also discovered the new anime series that's currently airing, Yowamushi pedal. I like the sports series the Japanese push out and this looks to be another great one. On par with Eyeshield 21 and Prince of Tennis, it follows the life of an unassuming boy who pedals 100 km weekly to buy his favourite anime products from another city. He just enters high school and encounters cyclists from the school's cycling team. From then on, it's deciding what he wants to do with his life, if he can really survive the harsh training program of the cycling team, the forging of friendship and meeting powerful and ambitious competitors along the way. Yowamushi pedal is uplifting and I love the messages of friendship, hard work, determination, defeat and never giving up on your dreams. This is not a criticism but the reason I enjoy watching anime is because the underlying messages mean so much more, the stories run deep and you can actually feel the relationships, trials and triumph as the characters undergo their life transformation. And the best part about it is, anime is for both children and adults ... subject to the category you are watching of course!
And last but not least, I have embarked on my first major crocheting project - making a granny square blanket/throw thingie. With 26 squares done, I only need to crochet another 74. Hopefully, I can get it ready in time for summer. With all the holes the squares have, it should be an ample cover for those balmy summer evenings.
