Sometimes I wonder what an author's life is like, beyond the days and nights of constant writing and jotting down of ideas, of quotes they've just heard or restructuring a plot in their heads. I guess what I envisioned is not far off the mark but I thought I'd give readers a small insight into mine. While writing this, I will honestly tell you that all I'm thinking about at this moment is, how I'm dying to have a pot of curry crab! Sorry if that makes me seem I care less about you - but, it's crab!
I live in Prague and only a few months ago, I moved to the actual centre of the city. Everyday I kick myself and ask why I didn't move earlier. I love living in the city! I love the fact that everything is so close by and I can just walk everywhere, from home to work and back again. I pass through the farmer's market, savouring the wholesome goodness of freshly baked breads, brewing coffees, and piles of crunchy yummy seasonal vegetables. I buy a fantastic cappuccino, a homemade mushroom pocket and press on with my twenty minute walk to the office.
I work a nine to six job, Monday to Friday. Like every other profession, it has its ups and downs and one thing I'll never do is bitch about how much I hate it. Without my job, I would not be able to live in Prague. Without it, I wouldn't have made such great friends along the way. I don't love it, but hey, I don't hate it. I respect it. Anyway, after a particularly draining day at work, I felt that there was no way I was going straight home. I wanted to go out, take a walk, catch a view, to be with people. Plus, summer was coming to an end and I didn't want to waste the daylight hours. A European winter can be one of the most depressing things in the world hence there was absolutely no way I was going to miss the sun!
So, after agreeing to meet up with some friends, we went a-walking. The first thing we did was stop by at a little potraviny or shop, and purchased some nourishing liquids. Since I don't have an affinity for beer, I got a little can of coffee. Daniel didn't hesitate to get himself a two-litre bottle of classic Czech Branik while Alvaro paced himself with a can of Staropramen (the flavour, which in my opinion tastes like metal). Our photographer of the day also grabbed a can of Staropramen. His name is Frano by the way, and you will not see him in any of the pictures. :) Loaded and ready to chill, we piled down the steps at Zvornarka, and thus began our train watching activities and unexpected photo shoot.
